Malezi Bora strategy (Swahili for Good Nurturing)
Malezi Bora strategy (Swahili for Good Nurturing) was adopted in 2007 by the then Kenya’s Ministry of Public Health and Sanitation (now MOH) and in partnership with UNICEF with the aim of increasing the coverage of the key mother and child health indicators. Mother and Child Weeks dubbed ‘’Malezi bora’’ is a bi-annual activity observed in the months of May and November. During this period, high impact health services targeting the women and children below five years are accelerated in the health facilities, in ECDE Centres and in the community.
The office of the H.E County First Lady through the Jiinue Sasa Initiative has been reaching to the community by supporting the department of health services in promotive and preventive health care that has been found to have ripple effects in improving the health indicators hence better maternal and child health outcomes leading child survival and improved quality of life.
This will further translate to high productivity and economic gains in the county.
