Tharaka Nithi First Lady leads an anti-‘Triple Threat’ campaign.
Tharaka Nithi County First Lady H.E Margaret Muthomi conducted a community forum on the eradication of the Triple Threat and the launch of the Jiinue Initiative on Friday, 28 April 2023 at Chuka picnic grounds.
The county government, in collaboration with the National Syndemic Diseases Control Council (NSDCC), the National Council for Population and Development (NCPD), and the Anti-FGM board, held sessions on eradicating the triple threat of HIV/STI infections, Sexual & Gender Based Violence (SGBV), and teen pregnancies.
In her speech, the First Lady stated that the struggle against the Triple Threat was only achievable with a multi-sectoral approach to campaigns to empower, equip, and build strong future foundations.
“To lay a solid foundation for the future, we must work together to eliminate early HIV infections, teen pregnancy, and sexual and gender-based violence.” “Through collaborative campaigns, we will equip and empower a generation with knowledge about preventive measures, and we will all work together to reduce cases of the triple threat,” she stated.
Ruth Laibon Masha, CEO of the National Syndemic Diseases Control Council (NSDCC), also attended the ceremony.
